For Your Eyes Only
Now you know me - I am an absolute skincare fanatic and always emphasise taking care of my skin, but I never really focused on the eye area. I always thought that the skincare products and creams that I use were fine for around the eyes - more out of laziness I guess! I have only recently started really taking care of my eye area which is so much more fragile then the rest of the face. Eye masks, eye creams, my Eye Con treatment... these are my top tips for eye-care.
tip one : Eye masks
I know what you’re thinking… another step to my routine? Who has the time! I’m telling you it’s 100% worth it and you will be so happy when you see the results. It’s so easy to pop on a good eye mask while you get ready in the morning and really helps with depuffing and fine lines. I use a mask two to three times per week and absolutely love these sheet eye masks from 111Skin and MZSkin. I tested many and my favourites are the Black Diamond and Rose Gold Mask. Totally in love with the new Anti Pollution mask as well from MZSkin and the Hydra Bright Golden Mask. I do those about once per week in alteration.
I always clean my skin first and apply my toner and then apply the mask. Like that when you take it off the product stays on and you can even tap the rest in gently around the eye.
I use these two devices as well around my eye area. The rose quartz roller from Pagano London and the roller stick from MZSkin are so easy to use on a daily basis and really make a difference. The MZSkinstick gives a huge boost to the skin and makes the blood flow, I use it on the whole face as well. Love it !
tip two : the tools
I tried many many eye creams. I find they are difficult because they are either too thick (so that doesn’t work in the morning) or they are too greasy or when they get mixed with your face creams they get weird. I was told by my aesthetician that I need to apply eye cream also in the morning so I use different ones for AM and PM and I alternate three of my favourite ones that are extremely efficient.
Always apply the eye cream first and massage it in, then continue with your serums and creams...I used to do the opposite and that’s not great.
tip three :
cell pro eye contour
I must say my number one product is from CellPro. I think I’m on bottle number 4 already. It’s just an amazing eye cream that works. I pop this one on at night and in the morning when I stay home.
tip four : mz skin eye cream
The eye cream from MZSkin has a lighter texture and works really well in the morning. You need very little and it doesn’t leave the eye area greasy at all.
tip five :
the mayfair practice eye con
This is the mothership of eye treatments - time to bring out the big guns! Let’s talk Eye Con treatment at the Mayfair Practice which is a new specific eye treatment that consists of one treatment per week for 6 weeks. It’s an alternation of a peel and the following treatment is needling (dermapen) and then a peel again and so on.
The peel is quite strong and for about three minutes there is a strong burning sensation until the neutralising liquid is applied. It’s a quick treatment and has no down time and I didn’t get any redness at all. You can combine this with a facial so if you want to have a hydrafacial at the same time or Dermapen while you are at it, why not.
This is the peel that is applied during the first treatment at The Mayfair Practice. The needling in the following session is very quick and followed by a soothing eye mask for 20 minutes.
I really love this treatment that is specific to the eye area and reduces wrinkles and tightens the skin around the eyes. I’m into my fourth session and can see results already.
During the treatment the practice gave me a special vitamin C eye cream to apply in the mornings and evenings which I really liked.
Honestly, taking care of my eye area has changed a lot the appearance of fine lines and my skin feels more nourished and smooth. I was always so lazy about it but really understood how important it is and actually I enjoy using the products I discovered and work for me.
About twice a year I have a very light baby botox treatment on my forehead and just recently added a tiny bit around the eye area. It just prevent the deeper lines from showing too much but I always insist to be able to have my own smile and facial expression.
Let me know what works for you and if you have any questions.
