I thought I would do a quick blog about my favourite places in town to go out for a date night and I find that the atmosphere should be as important as the food. Putting on a sexy outfit and that gorgeous makeup doesn’t really make you want to hang out with your love at Pret or Five Guys, am I right? (Although might order Five Guys later with this miserable weather, yuck!)

So here are some of my fave places to have a great night over good wine, food and service.

FOLIE

Folie in Soho opened not long ago but we have been many times already. I love the decor and the lighting. It’s a beautiful place and at night it’s an intimate and sexy atmosphere. The owner Guillaume Depoix is always hands on and very set on creating perfect service (that’s my kind of restaurant!). The staff is so friendly and welcoming which makes a big difference.

The menu is very diversified and I love that they have main dishes to share such as Sea Bass, Dover sole or Lamb Shoulder.

What You’re Ordering

We always go for the Côte de Boeuf for two and I order lots of vegetables on the side. You need to get the Bernaise sauce, it’s delicious ! The veal tartare is delicious as well.

Nothing better then a good Pouilly Fumé from Domaine Dominique Guyot to go with it and when the conversation is going later into the night we might even order a second one.

The Vibe

The music is always good and if you fancy a delicious breakfast on weekends, they do that too.

Bellamy’s

Bellamy’s in Mayfair is not the fanciest restaurant in terms of interior design but it’s cosy and it has a chic bistro touch to it. It’s by far my favourite simple French cuisine in London. They are masters of doing simple food with fresh ingredients and cooked well.

It’s a pleasure to find this utmost fresh lettuce salad with a French vinaigrette, almost like you get it in South of France (so hard to find in London, let me tell you!).

What You’re Ordering

The lamb chops are a delight, the oysters are to die for as a starter and the steak tartare is unbelievable.

I usually have the sole goujons which are delicious and they can adapt almost anything on the menu to accommodate your diet or allergies. If you can have a little heavier meal (treat yourself!), the Ravioles de Royans are a delight. They are tiny little ravioli in a butter sauce, a speciality from France.

The Vibe

For a date night, get a table on the far right- tucked away in the corner, that’s my favourite spot. This restaurant has brought us many pleasant evenings just the two of us having a fabulous meal.

If you fancy white wine like me, go for a Chablis Premier Cru there, it’s yumm.

Amazonico

Well it’s the new hot spot in town and hell is it a sexy place! Go overboard with your outfit if you want... you can go chic all the way. Highly encouraged and bonus points if you send me your outfit on my IG!

What a dream for this interior designer ! It is pure beauty with green plants everywhere, amazing dim lighting and an open kitchen which is more exciting to watch than Netflix. If you care about chic aesthetics, this is the place to go.

What You’re Ordering

Start with a cocktail at the bar or the speak easy downstairs that looks like a Jules Vernes movie.

The food is a mixture of Asian-fusion and South American cuisine. My highlight is the pineapple roast corner: you get pineapple in all variations.

The wine list is extensive and staff is super friendly. However it’s a schlepp to get reservations, in these new hype places it seems the front desk staff is always a little pretentious.

The Vibe

We love to reserve a table for two all the way back in the restaurant- it’s the most romantic spot but I also like the sushi bar counter. It’s a small counter so perfect for two but you need to reserve.
